Her legacy
Mollie & Lucy's Lasting Love

No parent should ever lose a child, it is not supposed to happen.  When a parent dies, the legacy they leave is their children.

But what if their children have sadly gone before them?

Although our 2 girls have now gone before us, does that mean that we leave no legacy?

Definitely not.  Our legacy continues to be Mollie & Lucy.  Mollie affected so many people whose lives have been changed by having known her.  She made people laugh wherever she went and I hope that they are richer for having known her.

We never got the chance to know our baby Lucy properly, and though the hopes and dreams we had for our baby girl are lost forever, we hope our baby girl is happy with her big sister in Heaven.

Even as Angels, they both continue to affect people.  I created this site to share with the world the love and pride that Stephen and I have for them.  The messages of love and support from people across the world has been unbelievable.

Mollie gave me the most fantastic 6 years of my life and has left me with so many beautiful memories to help me through the rest of my days.

Their legacy lives on in the good work that is being done as a result of the fundraising we do in their memory.

I will continue to strive and to live my life in honour of my daughters.

2003

After Mollie became an Angel, the monies raised in lieu of flowers have paid for a pair of stained glass windows in her school.  They project 2 beautiful images and carry a plaque in their memory.

The school is planning a Prayer Garden for the children also.

We set up The Mollie Gavin Citizenship Award.  This is an annual award given to the kindest pupil who has tried their best, qualities Mollie showed in abundance.

Race For Life

I have ran in 4 Race for Life races since 2004 along with various friends and we have raised over £2816 for Cancer Research.

2005

At our first annual charity fun night held on 1st July 2005 (the day after Mollie's 8th birthday) we raised the fantastic sum of £3,105 which went to TCF and Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital where Mollie was a patient.  Everyone even joined in and sang Happy Birthday to Mollie too!

2006

In 2006 the charity night fell on Mollie's 9th birthday and we had a great party on her behalf.  We raised £3,169 which went to CLIC, Treliske Hospital at Cornwall (where Lucy was born) and TCF.  The theme this year was Hawaiin Beach Night and everyone had a great time.

2007

February 2007 - A good friend of mine Janet held a party for her 40th birthday.  She very selflessly asked for donations in lieu of presents and asked me to nominate a charity.  £1,250 was raised which was split between Mollie & Lucy's Forget me Not Fund for Leukaemia Research, the Neo-Natal Unit at Treliske Hopital, Cornwall and The Compassionate Friends.

March 2007 - A ex-colleague and fellow rounders players and friend to many Andrea sadly passed away of ovarian cancer aged just 34, sadly leaving behind her 5 year old daughter Georgia and partner Keith.  Before she passed, Andrea asked that money in lieu of flowers be donated to the girls Forget Me Not Fund.  It was a true reflection of just how deeply Andrea touched people that she raised £1,377.00.  For me, it has been truly uplifting to know that Andrea thought of me and our girls at such a devastating time for her and her family - Thank you Andrea xx.

June 2007 - Our 3rd Annual Charity Evening - Phoenix Nights Theme! - a fantastic night which raised £2,624.00 for our 3 charities.

2008

We are currently organising our 4th Charity Evening.  It is a Race Night to be held on Friday 15th August 2008 at Astley Bridge Conservative Club.  Please e-mail me if you would like to join us!

Total amount raised for Charity

Our total amount raised for charity to date is £17,455 - A Fantastic Sum!

All of these things would not have happened had it not been for Mollie and Lucy.

May our girls give me, their Daddy and their family the strength to continue to do the best we can in memory of them.

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today,
I asked what makes a Mother
And I know I heard him say.

A Mother has a baby
This we know is true,
"But God, Can you be a Mother
When your baby's not with you?"

Yes you can He did reply
With confidence in his voice,
I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime
And others for a day,
And some I send to feel your womb
But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this God
I want my babies here,
He took a breath and cleared His throat
And then I saw a tear.

I wish that I could show you
What your child is doing today,
If you could see your children smile
With other children and say.

"We go to earth and learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear,
Our Mummy loved us oh, so much
We got to come straight here.

We feel so lucky to have a Mum
Who had so love much for me,
I learned my lessons very quick
Our Mummy set us free.

We miss our Mummy oh, so much
But we visit her each day,
And when she goes to sleep
On her pillow's where we lay.

We stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And whisper in her ear,
"Mummy don't be sad,
We're your babies and we're here."

So you see my dear sweet one
Your children are OK,
Your babies are here in my Home
And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with me
Until your lesson's through,
And on that day that you come home
They'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mum
It's the feeling in your heart,
It's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start
